West Tanfield Circuit
Distance: 14.3 Miles
Route Type: On-Road
A moderate circular route that starts in Ripon Market Square before heading up Hutton Bank to the village of Wath, from where the route diverts left down the side of the river Ure to the village of West Tanfield.
From West Tanfield, there is a choice to either take a mix of bridle paths and tracks or follow the main road back down to North Stainley, from where the route switches again to the main bridle path running through Ripon Parks and back towards Ripon.
The bridle path ends at Ripon City Golf Club on Palace Road and it is a short ride back to the Market Square where the route started.
(The main road between West Tanfield & North Stainley is a very fast stretch with vehicles passing extremely close at high speeds. It is therefore strongly advised to turn off the main road and follow the signposted bridle path from the centre of the village back to North Stainley)
(It is advisable to use the pavement on the left hand side of Hutton Bank when ascending/ descending as it is often very busy on this stretch of road with large vehicles requiring excess space)
