For this year’s Funfest, we are delighted to be working in partnership with Ripon Concerts, to help make their concert series more accessible and engaging for the local community. By collaborating on outreach events and family-friendly initiatives, we aim to inspire a wider audience – especially young people – to experience the joy of live music. As part of this collaboration, we’re excited to host a Musical Instrument Taster Session on Wednesday, August 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Holy Trinity Church, Ripon, during the
Ripon FunFest. This free event offers young people aged 5 to 18 the chance to try a range of woodwind, string, and brass instruments and meet some of the area’s music teachers. We hope the session will spark interest and encourage participants to take up an instrument themselves, and tickets can be booked here. Our commitment to nurturing young musical talent continues through the Young Performer’s Platform, which provides a unique opportunity for two advanced young musicians (Grade 6 and above) to perform at the start of each of our six concerts throughout the season. In addition to performing, these young musicians will have the chance to meet the professional artists featured in the main programme. Applications for the Young Performer’s Platform are open until September 14 and can be submitted via our website
